My visit to the Kahn Museum was totally disgusting. First of all I had checked out the website for the exact hours of opening and such. So I arrived there on tuesday a little bit before noon, after having travelled all the way from the North of England by car and ferry to see the Museum. Only to find on arrival there that there was no exposition on, only the gardens. I was totally distressed about this. I found little to no comprehension with the personel at the register, who could not get why I was so upset. All they said was that it was marked on the website that the museum was closed. In fact, saying that the exposition is closed is something totally different then a whole museum closed. I did not get the fact that "THE EXPOSITION" IS IN FACT THE WHOLE MUSEUM... I think it is rather disappointing to travel 800 miles for a museum and not to see anything. We did hardly see any of the lovely photographs, there is only one little book store, with very few books about the real collection, if you don't count the 100 euro book that was too expensive for me, especially after my ferry and travel costs... I was under the impression that I knew more about Kahn then the girls at the entrance to be honest. I also do not understand why they don't build up a new exposition in winter time, when fewer visitors are arriving, or why they don't have the means to offer people at least some nice viewing points or computers... There are working stations from what I learned on the site, but they were nowhere to be seen, and are obviously not reachable when a new exposition is being built. So my whole Kahn trip has been one big disaster. After years of longing to see it I finally got there to see nothing, zippo, nada. And to find personel that is hardly friendly to hurting customers.
